Bandwagon update

Sorry for all the delays and unanswered emails/forums. Many BW problems when fixed individually will result in another issue so we decided to re-architect Bandwagon. However, it is taking longer than expected and won’t be seeing any release until December, at the earliest. For all the inconveniences, we will be giving all customers an extra year of Bandwagon for free. This will take effect when the new Bandwagon is released. Again, my apologies. |

Is there any news on the new release? |
What is happening? Has this project fallen off the face of the earth? Please update us with some info. |

I think that Bandwagon is a dead project. Terence doesn’t even respond, so, why can I continue with this? |
We are still here. We are working hard on Bandwagon 2.0 and have extended support for all file types. I don’t want to give a timeframe as I have been very wrong on dates before. But rest assured, we are here and working our butts off to release a much better product. My apologies for being a flake on this forum. |
I’m all for a version 2.0 … but, as I’ve paid for a subscription, I’d rather have a working version 1.0. It’s beyond the point of being ridiculous. You’re in violation of your own Bill of Rights on several points. Namely, having access to our backups. We need: 1) A version of Bandwagon that works under Leopard (it’s been nearly 6 months since Leopard’s official release). 2) A program that we can use to restore our backups—regardless of whether we have a current subscription or not. 3) Some display that this company is not dead. Seriously. I’m not alone in asking for these things. They’ve been promised time and time again but it’s at the point where we’re pissed off. We’re not getting what we’ve paid for and we’re pissed. |
Chris G, you are right. I’m not sure how to respond except to say that our version 2.0 will be a working version with (hopefully) all the major bugs removed. Bandwagon 2.0 will support Leopard and we have removed a lot of the issues relating to crashing and not being able to restore backups. |
@Terence: What’s the time frame for version 2? Couple days? Week or two? Month? How are you going to address the issues we are having right now? -Chris |
I can’t give you an exact timeframe but it will not be in a couple of weeks. The current issues will be fixed with the new release. |
While not being as pissed as Chris G, I do have a serious problem. The company I work with that gave me Bandwagon as a gift is moving from one host to another very, very soon. My computer has Leopard, which means that I cannot use the current client. How do I go about moving from one host to another, with a large library, without downloading a lot of content. We really just want a working restore tool. I could personally care less about the backup right now, when I get something new, I can then use it for Backup. |
sheatsb, are you using S3 or FTP? |
But do you have any aproximate timeframe? Before summer? Before September? Before December? We have been waiting almost 6 most since Leopard release and we need some more clear information to make decisions. I can’t wait a year to decide how to make backups or having a lot of GB’s of music in a server wasting space because the’re of no use |
@terence: I’m using FTP. |
@Gwydion: we just began testing BW 2.0 internally. We will release it to our current users approximately 1 to 2 months from now. If all goes well internally, we can release it sooner. sheatsb: we have integrated “old” data into BW 2.0 so your timeframe will be the same. |
sheatsb, why not move your data to the new host using scp ? It will still take a long time, but it will send the data via the big internet pipes from one server direct to the other, which will be much faster than downloading to your home/office computer and then re-uploading. |
@ice cream: have a link to do that? I would love to close out this old account just for the hell of it |
any update? |
@sheatsb: We are still internally testing. If you like, I can give you a pre-release version, hopefully in a couple of weeks… In the meantime, here are screenshots: http://flickr.com/photos/ridethebandwagon/sets/72157604801682485/detail/ |
that would be really cool (re: pre-release) thanks for everything you’re doing. |
This is ridiculous. I don’t know how things work over there, but if someone is paying for a service and you’re not providing it, in the UK, it’s classed as theft. My subscription ends in just over a month and I’ve not been able to use bandwagon at all since October. Absolutely ridiculous. By charging for a product that clearly never worked properly (who else has charged for something that would struggle to even be called an alpha release by most companies), all you’ve done is destroy any credibility you might have once had. |
@Graham: We will be giving you a free upgrade to Bandwagon 2.0, which will no longer be a subscription. Saying sorry at this point is probably too late but I hope you’ll give Bandwagon another shot. |
I sincerely hope that the free upgrade will be extended to all paid users that have not been able to use the product properly since Leopard’s release. |
Yes, all paid users will get a free upgrade. BW 2.0 will support Leopard. |
We are approaching to the 2 months to release said on Paril 23. Any news? |
